What is this drama about?
No In-Ji (Seo Hyun Jin) works in a mysterious company as a contract wife. Such a relationship (according to the contract) may last for a maximum of one year. Her new client is Han Jeong Won (Gong Yoo). His ex-wife involved him in a strange arrangement, the basis of which is his new marriage.

It was a good drama, a bit emotionally heavy at times, but very consistent. I didn’t miss anything here, nothing bothered me, everything was in the right proportions. Visually and musically it was more than good. Acting at the highest level. They all played their roles very well, very realistically, I believed in their characters. Gong Yoo perfectly portrayed a man broken by a hard life, and Seo Hyun Jin, with her emotionless face, clearly showed that her character was an empty shell.
It was an interesting story about people, their traumas and relationships. It’s impossible to build a healthy relationship if you haven’t worked through certain things, if you haven’t closed the still painful wounds. ML got into this toxic relationship with his first wife because she was narcissistic and domineering from the beginning, and it didn’t bother him. He was so emotionally abused by his family that he happily handed over control of his life to someone else. And she loved to control others. Her “ideal” image of marriage was unexpectedly shattered by him when, for the first time, he did not treat her as a priority in his life and she decided to cruelly punish him for it. Her character was fascinatingly irritating. I looked at what she was doing and how she was behaving in disbelief. But I must admit that she dressed very well.
ML and FL’s relationship developed very naturally and I like how it ended. Perfect. Each of them had recovered from their life chaos and were ready for a new path. It was amazing how much they wanted a normal life, shopping in the supermarket, eating together, going for walks. People sometimes underestimate how wonderful normal life is.
“The Trunk” is a very short drama, it has only 8 episodes, but it showed the best essence of a good story about human relationships and trauma. I highly recommend this unique romance with a touch of thriller.
