“My Dearest Nemesis” – enemy or lover?

What is this drama about?

Baek Soo-Jung (Moon Ga-Young) is an exemplary team leader at Yongsung Department Store. She is very demanding of herself and others, even her superiors. She is known for her honest and direct opinions, which the directors of her department cannot stand, and they all leave their positions one by one. With the arrival of the new director, Baek Soo-Jung promised herself that she would be more reserved and less radical.
The new director of her department is Ban Joo-Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook), whose family runs the entire Yongsung. His parents died in a car accident when he was little, so he was raised by his very demanding and cold grandmother. On the outside, Ban Joo-Yeon is as cold and professional as his grandmother, but on the inside he is a crazy toy collector, video game player, and fan of hard rock music.
Baek Soo-Jung and Ban Joo-Yeon are not aware that they know each other from their youth and unfortunately for each of them it is a bitter memory that has not been able to disappear from their memory for 16 years.

This was a very pleasant and funny romantic comedy. Lately, office romances have not been my cup of tea. They were all similar and kind of boring. Here the main couple had really good chemistry and I think that thanks to them this story was so cool and it was easy to swallow the clichés from dramalnad. Choi Hyun Wook and Moon Ga-Young totally found themselves in their characters, he was slightly childish, she was too responsible. Logically, this relationship should be a total disaster, but it turns out that when mutual understanding appears, the rest of the things do not matter. I was a little afraid of the moment when they would discover their true identity, but everything ended in one episode without unnecessary drama and that is a big plus of this story. There is nothing worse than dragging out conflicts between the main couple endlessly. We also don’t have any love triangles or toxic and jealous characters who are just waiting to harm the main couple.

The second couple also deserves attention. Their relationship was quite unusual, but sweet in its own way. Lim Se-Mi is a beautiful actress and Kwak Si-Yang has one of the most beautiful voices among Korean actors, so their scenes together were a feast for my senses:).

I must definitely mention Soo-Jung’s family. Her father is the most wonderful, kindest and most supportive father I have ever seen in dramaland. He resembles a big bear daddy, who has absolutely no bad emotions in him, only pure goodness and understanding. The brother is a typical younger brother, he annoys our heroine, but when necessary, he is ready to do anything to help her.

The ending was typical for a romantic comedy. All the plots were finished in a positive way. The least believable was the transformation of the grandmother from hell, but I explain it to myself as she coldly accepted it after someone finally said out loud what she had ruined in the relationship with her grandson. There was no outpouring of love on her part, only rational reflection on her behavior (better late than never).

Who is this drama for? – for people who like office romances, appreciate positive characters and, above all, humor.
