What is this drama about?
When Zang Hai was 10 years old, he witnessed the brutal murder of his entire family. His father was a court astronomer and came into conflict with the powerful Prince Ping Jin. The boy miraculously survived because he was saved by a mysterious masked man, a friend of his father. The man wants to support his revenge, so Zang Hai undergoes demanding training for the next 10 years. As a 20-year-old, he sets off to the capital to become Count Ping Jin’s trusted man and take revenge on him for the death of his loved ones.
I was waiting for this drama mainly because of Zhang Jingyi. I like her very much and always try to watch what she plays in. I have to admit that this is my first drama with Xiao Zhan, so you could say that I am discovering him with a huge delay compared to the rest of dramaland.
After 5 episodes, I like this story very much. The great quality of this production is visible after the first episode. The acting, the shots, the decorations, everything is really very good. It looks like a really good revenge drama with intrigues, politics and lots of corrupt officials. I have the impression that the death of Zang Hai’s family is just the tip of the iceberg. I’m also counting on a little romance, even if it all ends with just long glances or innocent hugs. Since the drama has 40 episodes, I’m not expecting crazy action, but rather a slow build-up of tension.
