What is this drama about?
When Destiny Brings The Demon follows the story of Sima Jiao, the last descendant of a powerful clan, who has been imprisoned in the mountains for 500 years. His release comes unexpectedly when Liao Tingyan, a modern-day girl, suddenly finds herself transported to the world of immortals. From that moment on, the two join forces to stand against the cruel practices of other clans, while slowly finding comfort and healing in each other’s presence.
I had been eagerly waiting for this drama, mainly because I’m a huge fan of Chen Feiyu and his screen charisma. Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of xianxia dramas, but I made an exception for this one and I’m so glad I did.
The heart of the story lies in the relationship between the two main characters. Yes, there are conspiracies, battles, and darker plotlines, but what truly stands out is their connection. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a couple in dramaland that felt this genuine.
Sima Jiao is known as a cold and ruthless figure, seemingly incapable of emotion, but when he’s with Liao Tingyan, he transforms into someone completely different. The moment he realizes she’s the only one in the world who doesn’t want to kill him, their relationship begins to bring him a sense of peace and relief. They communicate openly, he listens to her, respects her opinions, and they care for and support one another in a way that feels refreshingly sincere.
There’s also a good dose of subtle humor in their interactions, which adds even more charm to the story.
Chen Feiyu and Wang Yinglu have fantastic on-screen chemistry. It’s clear they work well together, and they’ve managed to create a duo that I’ll remember for a long time.
I’ll admit, I love spoilers, so I already have a sense of what’s coming next, and I honestly can’t wait.
If you’re a fan of dramas where the main couple has a healthy, sweet, and emotionally grounded relationship,this drama is definitely worth your time.
