“How Dare You!” – How to survive in a fictional world that has no rules

What is this drama about?

Wang Cui Hua unexpectedly finds herself in a novel they were discussing at her place of work. According to the book, she’s a cunning concubine whom no one likes. She’s trying to find her way in this new world. By chance, she learns that the young emperor is also from the modern world. They both accept this incredible news with immense relief. They both try to survive the story without losing their lives, which isn’t easy, because according to the book, a tragic fate awaits them.

I won’t deny that I was looking forward to this drama because I’d already watched the animated version and really enjoyed it. Of course, Cheng Lei was also a very encouraging addition to the cast. 🙂 I really enjoyed this drama, mainly because there was a lot of comedy, especially at the beginning.

Lately, these storylines with book adaptations have become incredibly popular, but they still manage to surprise viewers sometimes. There were plenty of surprises here, too, along with the standard court intrigues and no rules to the plot. FL wasn’t guarded by some higher “thing” when she wasn’t following the original plot, and this introduced an element of chaos because she didn’t know what to do to get back. She had to survive first and foremost.

The lead pair were perfectly matched in terms of visuals and acting skills. They created an incredible, equal duo, a dream team, with amazing chemistry. I saw Wang Churan on screen for the first time, and OMG, she’s beautiful 😍. In those incredible outfits, she looked like a fairy queen. Cheng Lei is known to be a top-tier actor, and I feel like this role gave him an incredible opportunity to showcase all his talents simultaneously. He was a tyrant, a cuddly kitten, and a lost, unhappy boy. The way he looked at FL was mind-blowing. I loved their performances together, especially when they were plotting against their enemies.

The Prince also deserves special mention. I was very pleasantly surprised by this actor. Every time he was around FL, I got chills. The actor managed to create a disgusting, indefensible character.

A great drama, one of the best in the “I landed in a book, now what?” genre. I wholeheartedly recommend it, and for Cheng Li fans, it’s a must-see.
