What is this drama about?
Xia Zi lives and works in Shanghai, but despite her hard work, nothing goes her way. Following her father’s death, she returns to Kashgar for the funeral. She reunites with her two best friends, the ones she grew up with. Lai Li would like to take over her father’s traditional pottery workshop, but he refuses because she is a woman. Minawaer loved dancing from childhood and is now a star of a local dance troupe. She hopes her future husband and his money will allow her to travel extensively and pursue her dancing career. All three girls will have to answer the question of what they truly want from life and ultimately fight for their dreams.
It was a wonderful journey to the western regions of China and to the city of Kashgar. The greatest strength of this drama is its beautiful, lush, rich, and colorful shots. The old part of the city looks fabulous here. It’s no wonder all three friends had such a happy childhood.
Through their fates, the drama shows how important family and tradition are to the local people. Several families live side by side like one big, happy family. They spend time together, celebrate, and raise their children. The oldest member of this community is a wonderful grandmother to all the girls. She is such a kind spirit, calm, wise, and loving. I love that she speaks her native language. Such a grandmother is a true treasure.
The girls’ fates, their choices, their loves, and their life plans were beautifully portrayed. Each of them was different, each had different plans, and each of them had different paths in life. The only thing that hasn’t changed is their strong sisterly bond. They could always count on each other in times of crisis, and that was beautiful. Sometimes a simple hug was enough.
I highly recommend it. It’s only eight episodes, but they’re so different from what Dramaland usually throws at us that I felt like I was on vacation. I felt exactly the same way after watching To the Wonder, and I recommend both stories to everyone.
The only minor flaw in this drama is the main male character. I didn’t like his character, but that was because of the actor. He had this country bumpkin look, and that bothered me. However, all three main actresses were great.
