“To The Wonder” – Wild nature as an answer to life’s crisis

What is this drama about?

Li Wen Xiu works in a big city and dreams of being a writer. Unfortunately, her life seems empty and definitely not easy. After losing her job, she decides to go to her mother, who runs a small shop in an area inhabited by Kazakhs. Together with her mother, they actively participate in the traditional, simple life of their family and meet, among others, a Kazakh boy, Batay, whose greatest passion is horses.

This was a very good drama. Watching it, I felt like I was on vacation in the wilderness. The views were beautiful! Everything was subdued, without any extravagance or drama. It was the ordinary life of ordinary people working hard every day. And the life of the Kazakhs is exceptionally interesting. Here, we learn about their culture, customs, and true life in harmony with nature. This story brilliantly demonstrates that a simple life can be the most beautiful. The main character discovered this during that memorable summer. She doesn’t have to live in a big city to have something to write about. Simple, down-to-earth things, a few loved ones, peace, quiet, and beautiful wild nature – all of this is enough to live life to the fullest.

I won’t deny that the girl was lucky to meet a miracle boy in this wilderness, who, on top of that, fell in love with her. It was a lucky coincidence.

Their romantic storyline was very subtle, very natural, and very charming. The actors delivered excellent performances and had excellent chemistry.

The female characters are a very strong point of this drama. The girl, her mother, and Token were different but equally strong, each in their own way. The girl’s mother was an incredible person. At first, I didn’t like her, but then I saw that she was a wise woman who was excellent at reading people and knew how to blend in, going with the flow. She didn’t fight anything different, didn’t question, didn’t try to be a smartass, just adapted. I didn’t see anger or irritation in her, only the desire to live each day as calmly and as well as possible. Despite various difficulties in life, she never gave up. She fell, got up, dusted herself off, and kept going with a smile on her face and hope in her heart. She lived in the here and now, enjoying each day, leaving her sorrows far behind. She had a solution for everything. An incredible woman. No wonder everyone respected her.

The ending of the drama was a bit dramatic, but overall I really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this drama. You’ll feel like you’re on vacation, but a peaceful one, where nature dictates the rhythm of the day.
